Who needs to take action?

October 12th – November 15th

An enrolled member may or may not need to take action during Open Enrollment, depending on the employee’s current situation and intentions.

If you are…

1.      An employee already enrolled in State benefits as of August 26, 2017 who DOES NOT want to make any changes to benefits.

Prior to the start of Open Enrollment, the employee should receive a benefits packet that shows the employee’s current State benefits coverage along with instructions for using the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) System.  If the employee does not wish to make changes, all benefits, other than Flex Spending Accounts (FSA), will roll over into the new plan year without the need for the employee to complete a form.  If the employee wishes to continue a Health and/or Dependent care flexible spending account, the individual must follow the Interactive Voice Response instructions to re-enroll for the spending account, as instructed in the benefits packet.  Flexible Spending Accounts have increased, see new limits on the Open Enrollment Flexible Spending Page.

If no changes are made, the employee will not receive a new confirmation summary statement.  If changes are made, the HR Department will generate a confirmation summary statement for any changes made through the IVR.  This statement should be checked carefully for accuracy. If errors exist, the employee should contact the HR Department immediately at hrbenefits@umbc.edu
