The Department of Human Resources would like to congratulate Meggie Connelly on receiving this honor.

Meggie Connelly, Foundation Business Specialist, for the Office of Institutional Advancement has been selected as the Exempt Employee of the Quarter for October-December 2021. Meggie began her career with UMBC in March 2018.

Meggie was nominated by Caitlyn Mitchell, Coordinator, of the Office of Institutional Advancement (OIA). In describing her work ethic and dedication to the department, Caitlyn Mitchell says, “Meggie excels in people-centered professionalism. She is a wonderful asset to OIA. When she first started working at UMBC, I was amazed at how quickly and with such expertise she learned the ins-and-outs of her position. She has not stopped with merely meeting expectations but has gone above and beyond to quickly assist others and contribute to projects that bring value to the division and UMBC as a whole. I believe that if you asked anyone who has had the pleasure of working with Meggie, they would only be able to speak of her compassion, strong work ethic, and professionalism.”

Caitlyn recognizes Meggie’s diligence as she mentions that “The trainings that Meggie has led to teach departments the Foundation best practices are vital to campus operations. She also makes herself available to assist with one-on-one trainings and consultations with departments who need extra assistance. When given seemingly impossible projects, such as organizing the endowed scholarship data files, some of which date to the founding of the University, she gracefully and diligently accomplished the task which will offer so many important opportunities to students in need of financial aid.  She was also instrumental in working with the Foundation to quickly administer scholarship aid to students suffering from pandemic related insecurities.”

In commending her outside work, Caitlyn adds: “Meggie not only serves the UMBC community through her hard work in OIA, but also is an active member of the Baltimore community. She regularly gives her time and money to support Baltimore based charities. She has served as a mentor and tutor for students in need of positive role models, and has worked to organize food drives during the holiday season. I’m sure there are many awards and accomplishments that she is too humble to share with me, but I know that wherever she invests her time, wonderful results occur!”

Meggie was thrilled to learn she had been selected as Employee of the Quarter during a surprise announcement made to OIA staff.

Note:  There was no nonexempt recipient selected this quarter.

Recipients receive $500, a special parking space, one day of administrative leave, a certificate, his/her name on the Employee of the Quarter plaque and an invitation to the annual Service Award Ceremony.

Human Resources offers special thanks to everyone that nominated an employee for the award. Previous nominations received will be eligible for consideration for one year from the date received. The next Employee of the Quarter recipients will be selected in January.
