The Compensation Unit provides support for:

  • Establishing new position numbers and reclassifying existing position numbers.
  • Providing salary structure and wage guidance
  • Position evaluation, structure, and development

UMBC’s compensation strategy is adheres to the University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents’ compensation philosophy. Following the Board of Regents policies and collective bargaining memorandums of understanding for non-exempt (AFSCME) and University Police (FOP), we utilize diverse regional and national wage data to remain competitive in attracting top talent and to manage position classifications and wage administration.
