Accessing SPS Workday

The SPS Workday system uses a unique identifier created by the State of Maryland called the SPS ID/W#.  You can find your SPS ID/W# on the bottom of your timesheet, in your POSC account, and in your myUMBC profile.

New Hires

New employees will get an email alert to their UMBC email within 2-3 weeks of their hire date or the date when their new position was entered into our payroll system (PeopleSoft), whichever is later. The email alerts will come from stateofmaryland@myworkday.com and will contain:

Email 1:  The new employee’s SPS ID (also known as the W#)

Email 2:  An initial temporary password (expires within a few minutes). If the password has expired, the employee can use the “Forgot Password” link to set up their password for the first time.

New employees will be required to set up their OneLogin account, which is the Workday system’s two factor authentication method to ensure security. Here is the link to the step-by-step instructions (with screenshots) for First Time Setup for OneLogin/Workday.

Current Employees

Current employees can access their Workday account for the first time using their SPS ID/W# as their username, and refer to the following Quick Reference Guide and Tips for using the One Login System.
