The Department of Human Resources would like to congratulate Cory Ridgley and Theresa Mabe on receiving this honor.

Cory Ridgley, Merchandiser II in Campus Card & Mail Services, has been selected as the Nonexempt Employee of the Quarter for January-March of 2023. Cory began his career with UMBC in 2018 in his current position.

Cory was nominated by Drew Belcher, Assistant Director of Campus Card & Mail Services. Drew says, “As the Merchandiser for Campus Card & Mail Service (CCMS), Cory Ridgley is one of the first point of contacts for our students, parents, faculty, and staff members upon starting at UMBC. Everyone in the UMBC community who received their campus card or had a question on how to deposit funds, photo approval, and creation, along with access inquiry worked with Cory. Any questions about Meal Plan options, use, financial responsibilities, along with dining locations and hours spoke with Cory.  Questions or concerns regarding vending machine locations, selection availability, or power outages and repair needed communicated with Cory. Departments hosting Summer Conferences corresponded with Cory and card management. Any Library and Bookstore gift cards you received were created by Cory. Any and ALL questions regarding distribution of student, faculty, and staff mail. Including numerous questions about non-USPS package delivery services, such as Amazon, OHL, FedEx, and UPS originated conversations with Cory. If you ever needed anything notarized, you are in luck, Cory is a Public Notary. If you ever submitted any of the above services through our ‘RT’ system, you were guaranteed to work directly with Cory. If you ever dialed the main number for CCMS, you have directly talked with Cory. When anyone had a question about the numerous adaptations UMBC assumed the last two years, Cory was there to coach them through the ‘Change’. As you can see Cory is truly the gateway to the relationship the UMBC community will form with CCMS.”

“The ‘RT’ process is the main communication system connecting CCMS and the UMBC community about any issues or concerns regarding our services. After the completion of each ‘RT’ a survey is sent to the customer form them to tell us about their experience. Each month Cory consistently receives numerous “RT’ survey responses about his exceptional customer service. Comments regarding Cory’s service include:

‘Cory is a reliable source of information to new students entering our campus. He is always someone the customer can rely on for accurate information.’

‘He creates an environment that leaves the customer with a positive impression of UMBC after leaving our counter.’

‘Cory was exceptionally pleasant, helpful, and welcoming. I am so happy with my new campus card/picture. He explained everything I needed to know very clearly. 10/10 for professionalism, courteousness, knowledge, etc.!!!’

‘Cory never hesitates to go that extra mile to help out.’

‘Cory was the model of speed and efficiency, he seems well trained and motivated.’

‘Cory consistently provides exceptional customer service regardless of the nature of the transaction or request.’

‘Great employee, super helpful!’

‘Cory was very kind and helpful.’”

When Cory is not busy providing exceptional customer service at UMBC, he is busy working on completing his degree at UMGC.  Campus Card & Mail Services is very proud of Cory and his accomplishments and looks forward to celebrating his graduation at the completion of his studies.

Cory was presented with his award. He was surprised and grateful to be selected as EOQ.

Theresa Mabe, Data Manager in the Division of Professional Studies Marketing Department has been selected as the Exempt Employee of the Quarter for January-March of 2023. Theresa began her career with UMBC in 2007 as an IT Control Clerk Lead in the Office of Institutional Advancement.  She was later promoted to a Development Associate.  Theresa transferred to a Coordinator position in the Division of Professional Studies in 2019 and was promoted to Manager in September 2022.

Theresa was nominated by Renee Eisenhuth, Manager and Jeremy Matthews, Enrollment Operations Program Specialist, in the Division of Professional Studies (DPS). In describing her work Renee Eisenhuth and Jeremy Matthews said, “Theresa works in the DPS Marketing department, but her position only covers a portion of what she does. She updates, builds, researches, designs, analyzes, and provides information to many. The past year she has spent many hours working with different departments on the Campus CRM, building and organizing the information so others may use it successfully, (in addition to her normal duties).”

“She diligently worked on making sure the CRM would capture all our admitted students, including deferrals into the email journey she built. Not only that, she built a report for those of us less tech savvy people to check so we would not have to look at every individual record.”

“Despite working in DPS, Theresa has support all undergraduate and graduate programs on campus in communications plans and best practices. Simultaneously, she is a backup for DoIT in CRM/PeopleSoft data integration and drives ADA compliance in DPS projects, including communications.”

“Theresa worked on our admitted student journeys to ensure that we are staying in touch with our over 900 admits for fall 2022. She produced a timeline for communication and updated content to assist our new students with their transition to graduate studies.  Theresa has also been crucial to de-duplication, which solves major data problems across the entire University.”

Theresa was presented with her award and was proud to be selected as EOQ and was grateful for the recognition.
